Baskerville Willy are an acoustic swamp-blues /Americana band, usually a 4-piece (US/UK/ France) but in town as a duo. Music: dark, mysterious and original, as per their first album ‘No Ordinary Hound’: quirky songs about “canines, trains, cars and women, combining as a self-help guide and a test of your bass speakers”. Add to that newer material with more ballads, gospel, jazz and country mixed up with the blues making it more classifiable as Americana. Think Tom Waits/Beefheart meets a singer songwriter. Or better still, stop thinking about that and come to the gig. It’s the blues but not as we know it.

Karen Turley is a Singer/Songwriter from Omagh in Northern Ireland, living in Liverpool. She has always had a passion for music, particularly American Folk and Country. Karen writes and records her own material and has recently had her original songs played on BBC Introducing on BBC Radio Merseyside, as well as joining ‘Dave Monks’ for a few live sessions. In March 2015 Karen was lucky enough to be one of two Singer/Songwriters chosen to travel to Nashville for a full week of Songwriting workshops and activities with esteemed songwriters. She was also able to perform in the round with the wonderful Beth Nielsen Chapman and Don Henry in the famous ‘Bluebird Cafe’.

Patrick Green performs and records as a solo musician in Manchester, crafting songs of an Alt, Blues, Folk, and Lo-fi nature. He has a strong DIY raw ethic and is inspired by Chad Vangaalen, Daniel Johnston, Evening Hymns and Tiny Vipers to name but a few. Latest album ‘Excluding Pluto’. After the performance there will be opportunity to purchase signed copies of the new album and Patrick Green Music t-shirts designed by Paul Ward (www.takerootprinting.com).

Turf was founded by brothers Danny and Jake in 2009, and after their debut gig, went on immediate hiatus. In 2015 they got back together with a new line-up, and began playing live shows and recorded their debut EP, ‘Shark Week’, which reached no. 21 on MIMR’s EP of the year list. Turf are most definitely a rock band, leaning toward the alternative and punk side of the spectrum. They have been likened to The Pixies, Pavement, Husker Du, Nirvana and Sonic Youth. Live performances are often a fun, noisy and provocative affair.

The Gildings bring their unique blend of folk and lyrical talents to the festival – ones to watch. Fusing folk, country, rock, and psychedelia, The Gildings released debut album ‘The Twisting Vine’ last year to critical acclaim. Quickly establishing a live following and championed by the Manchester Evening News, Edmund Cottam returns to Chorlton to play in the very suburb he first performed in as The Gildings.
“2015′s most overlooked album… gorgeously opulent” – City Life | “Some of the most unique folk tracks you’ll hear this year” – Never Enough Notes | “Surprising, mystical, and magical all at the same time” – Backseat Mafia
